A little behind-the-scenes truth: the real fridge stand is happily part of an active family home and neighbourhood. It only looks this idyllic because the treats are just that good.

Behind the Jar - FAQ

Have questions about fermentation, storage, ingredients, or how to get the most out of your Fridge of Wonders favourites? You’re in the right place. Here are the answers to questions we hear the most at the market, in the kitchen, and from curious customers discovering the magic for the first time.

  • We call it Superkraut because it’s so vibrantly alive and transformative that a standard name just didn’t fit the magic inside the jar. Unlike shelf-stable grocery store versions, ours is raw, unpasteurized, and deeply cultured, delivering serious crunch, lively tang, and live microbes in every bite. It’s a healthy high-five for your gut that proves healthy can be absolutely delicious.

  • Because we make them with real ingredients and no shortcuts.

Our cultured dressings are made with 100% extra virgin olive oil rather than highly processed seed oils, which gives them richer flavour, beautiful texture, and all the healthy fats and polyphenols nature intended. No fillers, no stabilizers, and no funny business — just bold flavour and real nourishment.

  • Think of preserved lemons as your secret flavour shortcut.

A small spoonful can completely transform roasted vegetables, hummus, grain bowls, pasta, soups, dressings, or anything that needs a savoury citrus lift. We especially love stirring a little into warm grains or creamy sauces right before serving.

  • That leftover brine is packed with tangy flavour and all kinds of cultured goodness. It makes an incredible base for salad dressings, marinades, sauces, grain bowls, or even a small digestive shot if you’re feeling adventurous. Just make sure the veggies in the jar stay submerged while you’re still working through it.
